Obituary

Daniel "Dan" Joseph Andreas, a resident of Lafayette, OR, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on March 1, 2015. He was 58 years of age.

Dan was born in Portland, OR on July 22, 1956 to Gerald and Beverly (Miller) Andreas. For most of his childhood, he grew up in Portland with his three brothers and two sisters.

The Andreas family moved to Dundee, OR where Dan attended Newberg High School. It was there that he met and married his wife of 41 years, Katherine "Kathy" Marie Davis, on February 22, 1974. They graduated from Newberg High School a few months later as Mr. & Mrs. Daniel J. Andreas. Later that year they were blessed with their first daughter, Sally. Over the course of the next 11 years the blessings kept coming until the house was full with 7 children; 4 girls and 3 boys.

Dan worked many different labor jobs over the years, but the best memories were made when he realized his dream of owning his own music store. He owned Double D Music in McMinnville for 7 years. Dan was always very involved in the church: music director at St. Peters in Newberg for many years, and a 4th Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also a volunteer fireman with the Dundee Fire Department earning the rank of Lieutenant, and was the Assistant Training Officer. Dan loved music in any way shape or form, golfing, camping, sports, and outdoors.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy; his seven children, Sally (husband, Shawn) Sutton of La Pine, OR, Sheri (husband, Shane) Smith of St. Paul, OR, Susan (husband, Tom) Matusky of Pittsburgh, PA, Daniel Jr. (wife, Tiffany) of Sheridan, OR, David (wife, Valerie) of Salem, OR, Sarah (husband, Sean) Hunt of Salem, OR, and Douglas (wife Nicole) of McMinnville, OR; his father, Gerald of Dundee, OR; his brothers Jeff (wife, Patty) of Vancouver, WA and Jay (wife, Darlene) of Newberg, OR; his sisters Diane of Dundee, OR, Maria (husband, David) Nazy of Olympia, WA, and Ruth of Salem, OR; sixteen grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother, Beverly; his brother, Mark; and his brother-in-law, Rick Thom.

Dan's cremains will be interred with Kathy's at La Pine Community Cemetery after she passes.
