John David Wallace, Jr., age 71, known to friends and family as “Dave”, passed away peacefully on Mon., Feb. 26, 2018, at Hospice House in Bend, OR. He was born in Elyria, OH on Nov. 24, 1946 to John David Wallace, Sr. and Elizabeth L. “Betty Lou” (Crumb) Wallace. He was a graduate of Avon Lake High School, Avon Lake, OH and Ohio University. He was retired but had worked in sales in OH, in Eureka, CA, and most recently as a sales and marketing representative for High Desert Beverage in Bend. He has lived in Bend since 1979 and loved snowboarding on the mountain, mountain biking on the beautiful trails along the Deschutes, fly fishing and kayaking at area lakes and rivers. He was also very accomplished at home-brewing and won many homebrew awards. He was a very creative cook and loved to experiment with new foods and flavors. Most recently you would see him biking around the Old Mill district and the Bend white water park. You might also have seen him at many of the Bend festivals, outdoor concerts, cyclocross events, paddle board & kayaking events and snowboarding competitions. He loved meeting new people and chatting about their common interests.

Dave is survived by his daughter, Kacey L. Wallace, her fiancee, Matt Johnson, and his grandson, Axel Johnson; his mother Elizabeth “Betty Lou” Wallace; his sisters, Susan McConnell and Beth Wallace; his sister-in-law, Beth O’Neil, brother-in-law, Gil Johnson; his niece Sarah McConnell, her husband, Ron Raphael, and great nieces, Sadie and Roxanne. He was preceded in death by his father, J. David Wallace. The family will hold their own private memorials.
