Cynthia Anne Hass, age 72, of Bend Oregon, passed away on October 25, 2020 at her home in Bend.

Cynthia was born in Merrill Wisconsin to Orlen and Ruth Heldt on June 11, 1948. In her childhood, Cynthia lived throughout the US in California, New York, and Washington before returning to Merrill where she graduated high school in 1966. Cynthia proudly earned her Registered Nursing degree from Madison General Hospital in 1969. She married Brian Jim Hass on March 14, 1970 in Merrill, Wisconsin. Cynthia and Brian eventually settled in Willmar, Minnesota with their two children. Cynthia worked as a nurse for over 30 years at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar. Cynthia was also an active member of Calvary Lutheran Church and involved in her children’s activities.

Upon retirement in 2012, Cynthia moved to Bend Oregon and was involved in various groups with Grace First Lutheran Church. Cindy was a strong woman of faith and character. She enjoyed book clubs and was known for her elaborate celebration of Halloween. Her greatest joy was her four grandchildren. She cherished all time spent with family especially yearly vacations to different destinations, the greatest being Disney World in 2019. She loved seeing the smiles on her grandchildren’s faces knowing how much fun they were having.

Cynthia is preceded in death by her mother Ruth in 1965, her father Orlen in 2001, and her husband Brian in 1983.

Cynthia is survived by son Mathew (Greta) Hass of Osakis, MN; daughter Catherine Hass (Josh Gobershock) of Bend, OR; sisters Gretchen Holmes of Savannah, GA, Nancy (John) Stephenson of Wilsonville, OR, and Julie (Bill) Bates of New Ulm, MN; and grandchildren Ruth Gobershock, Megan Hass, Grace Hass, and Wesley Gobershock.

Services are postponed until summer 2021 when we can hopefully gather (pending COVID) for a celebration of life in both Willmar Minnesota and Bend Oregon.

Memorials may be given to Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF).
