Kelly Marie Reid
11/3/1968- 4/16/2019

Surrounded by the love and support of her family, Kelly passed away peacefully at Hospice House in Bend after making the courageous decision to stop her life-sustaining dialysis treatments. Although she was relatively young, Kelly’s mind and body were spent; her battle with health issues had reached its limit. She fought tenaciously through two kidney transplants, constant pain, addiction and mental health issues.

Many of us would have succumbed long ago, but Kelly boldly persevered. She never let her problems define who she was, even in the face of unimaginable hardships. Her beauty, kindness, compassion, and love of music and animals were evident throughout her life- not to mention her outstanding waitressing skills! Some of Kelly’s greatest joys were being “Aunt Kiki” to her niece and nephews as well as spending time with her dogs, Ruthie and Rocky.

Kelly’s last week of life at Hospice House was filled with forgiveness and healing. She said she had “lived her best life” in her last week and was ready to move on. Kelly was able to pass on her own terms and grip life by its horns, even in her final moments. Her family is so very proud of her tenacity. They will always cherish the memories she left in their hearts.

Kelly is survived by her dad Rich (Carol) Reid; sister Tracy (Sean) Corrigan; nephews Quinn and Carson Corrigan; niece Claire Corrigan; aunts Eve McFarland, Mariam (Chuck) Stein, and Sandra (Fred) Romero; and many cousins. In addition to both sets of grandparents and her soul mate, Ron Scott, Kelly’s spirit has joined her mother, Kathy Reid, who passed in 2016.

Her family would like to thank the incredible staff at Hospice House (Bend), Dr. Pinnick and Dr. Massine, and her multiple caregivers including St. Charles and Fresenius Dialysis staff. A summer BBQ in Kelly’s honor will be held on Tuesday, July 2, 2019, from 4-8 PM, at 20971 Yeoman Road in Bend, OR. Donations may be made to Partners in Care of Bend.
