Stanley R. "Stan" Miller was born April 19, 1923, in Forest Grove, Oregon, to his parents Wilfred Miller and Bessie Mae (Potter). Stan went through central schooling and worked farming with his family and neighbors- he was a shoe shine boy at the local barber shop as well as carpentering with his dad. He then attended Forest Grove High School, graduated in May of 1942, and promptly joined the Navy on June 7, 1942- six months to the day after the attack on Pearl Harbor.

Stan served in the Pacific Theatre and off of the Alaskan Coast throughout the war as a Seaman First Class. He married Barbara Jean Warrick on July 28, 1944, in Forest Grove, Oregon. On October 10, 1945, he was honorably discharged from the Navy and came home to his loving wife and family. After the war Stanley became a jack of all trades carpenter, made ice cream for the business in town, and, after his daughter Linda was born in 1947, started a candy store in Oceanlake, Oregon.

Stan lived a varied and fulfilling life. He retired after about 20 years of working at Tektronix in Beaverton, Oregon, as a carpenter and cabinet maker. He loved boating, fishing, building sailboats, and furniture making. Stan also spent a lot of his time with family and friends traveling and camping. He had a great sense of humor and time for anyone who needed him.

He was preceded in passing by his parents, Wilfred and Bessie, and his three older siblings; Alice Vera Miller Jones, Bertram Miller, and Audrey Leora Miller McLean. Stan is survived by his daughter, Linda Gage, and her husband Jerry Gage; four grandchildren, Suzy Gage, Devey Gage, Tracie Gage, and Denni and husband David Dunaway; five step-grandchildren, Mark, Dakota and Matthew Carpenter, Kaylee Rowe, and Dylan Byrd; nine great-grandchildren, Alexandira, Jan, Quentin, Nicole, Kameron, Kristen, Aislynn, Samantha, Trevor, and Sean; four great-great grandchildren, Beatrix and Thurston Buska, Riley McQueen, and Jan Kipp Krider.

Stan lived a good life and will be remembered often and fondly by all who knew him.

Private services will be held.
